Driver On Revoked License Fled Fatal Route 32 Crash Scene: Cops

A 34-year-old unlicensed driver has been arrested in connection with a crash that left a 37-year-old woman dead along an Ulster County roadway last week, authorities said.

Alex B. Brown, 34, of New Paltz, was behind the wheel of a 2008 Subaru Forester when he ran over Victoria Cooper in Rosendale on Jan. 16 around 8:20 p.m., New York State Police said.

Cooper entered the roadway when she was struck by a 2013 Toyota on State Route 32, and came to rest in the southbound lane where she was run over by Brown, police said. The initial driver remained at the scene, but Brown did not, police said.

Brown was arrested and charged Friday, Jan. 17 with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle for driving with a revoked license.

Brown was arraigned in the Ulster County Centralized Arraignment Part, where bail was set at $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Rosendale Court on Wednesday, Jan. 22, at 5 p.m.
